This one is a little boy.
This room theme is “Out of Africa” and I managed to find the perfect panel for a quilt and receiving blanket with African animal prints on.
I add a border on to the panel to make it a little bigger and hand quilted it with big stitches using a nr 5 quilting needle and Valdani, nr 12 perle cotton thread.
I also purchased a container of 72 x 9m of perle coloured thread from the House of Embroidery and used it to make a personalised label for the back of the quilt. For someone who doesn’t enjoy embroidery I think it come out pretty well.
I have been crocheting many borders on to receiving blankets and I found they make quick and easy personalised gifts. I have being experimenting with different kind of yarns and I found that Sirdar “Calico” double knitting works the best as when you wash the blanket it dries in the same time as the flannel receiving blanket. I found that the Rowan, handknit cotton and my absolute favorite yarn Sirdar Snuggly baby bamboo, takes longer to dry.
I was hoping that the making of baby items will be over, for now! But I have I feeling it’s not! The baby sock knitting bug has bitten me hard!
Happy crafting.

Wow this is really wonderful! I cant imagine how you hand quilted that in 2 weeks! I think I might need more like 2 years :D! Do you have any posts on how to start off with Quilting? I have been wanting to try my hand at it for a long time now…
Cheers,
Harini
Thanks Harini, big stitches and thicker thread helps.
